The National Storytellers League honors President Abraham Lincoln, Storyteller, during the sesquicentennial, the 150th anniversary of the Civil War !!! The NSL is participating in the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library Foundation's Adopt-A-Whisker Campaign. NSL local story leagues will feature "telling" the children's picture book Mr. Lincoln's Whiskers by Karen Winnick.  This is the true story of 11-year-old Grace Bedell and her letter requesting presidential candidate Lincoln to grow whiskers. The nationwide initiative encourages each local league to dig into their own connections to Abraham Lincoln.

Mr. Lincoln's Whiskers by Karen Winnick will be featured at the National Storytellers League Convention, Las Cruces, NM, July 2012.

Altoona Story League, PA: Day of the Arts Celebration, Altoona Public Schools, Spring 2012

Fireside Story League, WA: Storyteller Dave Rasmussen as Abraham Lincoln and Karol Brown as Harriet Tubman (Brownstone Productions) will present an orginal program.

Garden State Storytellers' League, NJ: NJ Storytelling Festival at Grounds for Sculpture; President Lincoln, Storyteller at National Historic Site commemorating Lincoln's ancestry in Imlaystown, NJ

Las Cruces Story League, NM: Founder's Day Annual Event;  Boys and Girls Club program

Prairie State Story League, IL: Girl Scouts in Algoma, WI, led by Illinois and Wisconsin storyteller Diane Zastrow, will celebrate Lincoln's Birthday in costume.

Carol Stream Public Library, IL: Lincoln's whiskers puppet and craft program with Lincoln penny guessing game.
